Staying with 3 small kids was enjoyable! The location near Kyoto Station made exploring easy, and they offered adorable pyjamas for the little ones. My child loved the futon experience.
My kids wished for more room amenities.

Nice building and rooms with a simple japanese style bed. Great and amazing location, especially for me. Also, easy to get to An 800 - Ton Tower...

A lot of good food. Particularly good location, in front of the temple. And just next door to a convenient store and a 5 minute walk from Kyoto Station, the nijo castle and kyoto station and convenience.

Very close to Kyoto train station. Fantastic location! Traditional Japanese hotel. The owner was very polite.
The rooms are not well isolated. You can here if someone is passing by the room. But it is not too bad. However, in typical Japanese style, the owner has very politely apologized because of the noise on the following morning, without me saying anything about it.

Very good location for roaming in and out Kyoto
I dont like sleeping with bed bugs. The owner dog decided also once to go in my room and played with the bed sheets. Grandma is nice but she should learned how to use booking : even with a reservation, i had to go in another place for the first night, because the place was full (the other ryokan beeing MUCH cleaner and less expensive) with 3 other people

I loved staying at daiya ryokan! It's just a couple of blocks from the train station. The cozy, traditional vibe is cute, and the owner even drove us to an event, such a nice touch. Plus, the public bath was a great experience!

Location is excellent, in close proximity to Kyoto station as well as several major sightseeing locations, shops and restaurants. Futon mattress and duvet were in ok condition and comfortable (there are no beds). Room was big enough for 3-4 people to sleep there so plenty of space. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.
Window did not stay fully closed (it was a sliding design and would slip a few millimetres) so the room got quite cold during the evening and there were some minor issues with traffic noise (room faced a road). The owner keeps a few dogs so if you have allergies this may be a concern.

Wakin' up to the sound of them Buddhist temple bells was just magic. The folks runnin' the place treated me like family, and I loved it! They even had free bikes to roam around town, perfect for catchin' the river views. Don't expect fancy dining, though. You might have to find food elsewhere.
